Ube Colada

Purple cocktails are where it’s at for Spring Drinks! So what is Ube? Ube is a purple tuber, closely related to yam and taro. Ube is actually the Tagalog word for “tuber”, and you’ll see Ube used in Filipino pastry quite often. What does Ube taste like? Heaven. But if that’s too broad, it specifically has a nutty vanilla quality with earthy undertones. Ube syrup is quite hard to come by here in the US, so I decided to add it to my line up of Savidge Kitchen Syrups. You can shop those here!

The amount of ube syrup in this drink is just the right amount of balance - However, if you want something more sweet, don’t hesitate to add more of my delicious syrup!

UBE COLADA

  • 1.5 oz Coconut Cream

  • 2oz Spiced Rum (I used 896 - A Barbados Dark Rum)

  • 1.5oz Pineapple Juice

  • 0.5oz Lime Juice (Fresh of course!)

  • 0.5oz - 0.75oz of Ube Syrup

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake for 20 to 30 seconds. Pour over pebble ice and garnish with a few pineapple fronds.
