Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned

Ah, fall is in the air which means sweater weather and delicious Old Fashioneds are too! Today I am sharing a fall themed Old Fashioned recipe. This drink is definitely for whiskey lovers, so if you like sweeter cocktails, play with the ratios to find the best version for you!

If your guests are new to Old Fashioneds, I’d suggest a 2:1 ratio of whiskey to syrup, and then dial back from there as you acquire the taste.

For the pumpkin spice syrup used in this cocktail, I actually made a video with three different versions: Traditional, Maple Syrup, and Keto. You can watch the video here and make your own at home! It’s so easy! If your guests are not huge pumpkin fans, I would recommend using 0.25oz of the pumpkin spice syrup.

PUMPKIN SPICE OLD FASHIONED

  • 1.5oz Bourbon (Whiskey - I used Nobel Oak)

  • 1oz Allspice Dram (I used Besamim)

  • 0.5oz Pumpkin Spice Syrup (I used my Maple Syrup Version!)

  • A Few Dashes of Ginger Bitters (Or Tiki Bitters)

  • Cinnamon Sticks (For Smoking and Garnishing)

Add ice to a cocktail mixer glass along with all of your ingredients. Stir everything together. Grab a short glass and add a large ice cube to it. Strain the cocktail into the glass.

Now we are going to do something a little different…we are going to smoke a cinnamon stick and get that flavor into the cocktail! Using a smoke lid/top and a torch, break up some cinnamon sticks and start smoking them. Garnish with a fresh cinnamon stick and enjoy!
