Caramel Apple Old Fashioned

Ah, fall is in the air which means sweater weather and delicious Old Fashioneds are too! Today I am sharing a fall themed Old Fashioned recipe. This drink is definitely for whiskey lovers, so if you like sweeter cocktails, play with the ratios to find the best version for you!

If your guests are new to Old Fashioneds, I’d suggest a 2:1 ratio of whiskey to syrup, and then dial back from there as you acquire the taste.

CARAMEL APPLE OLD FASHIONED

  • 2oz Whiskey (I used Rye)

  • 1oz Apple Cider

  • 0.5 oz Caramel Syrup (NOT caramel sauce - Yes, there is a difference)

  • A Couple Dashed of Apple Blossom Bitters

  • Apple Crisps (Garnish)

Why can’t I use caramel sauce? Because it is going to be too thick to incorporate into the drink by stirring. If all your have is caramel sauce, then I would suggest adding everything to a shaker and giving it a really good shake to blend the ingredients together.

Add ice to a cocktail mixer glass along with all of your ingredients. Stir everything together. Grab a short glass and add a large ice cube to it. Strain the cocktail into the glass and garnish with a dried apple crisp.

You could also do a fun cinnamon sugar rim to elevate this cocktail for your guests!
