Butterscotch Old Fashioned

Ah, fall is in the air which means sweater weather and delicious Old Fashioneds are too! Today I am sharing a fall themed Old Fashioned recipe. This drink is definitely for whiskey lovers, so if you like sweeter cocktails, play with the ratios to find the best version for you!

If your guests are new to Old Fashioneds, I’d suggest a 2:1 ratio of whiskey to syrup, and then dial back from there as you acquire the taste.

BUTTERSCOTCH OLD FASHIONED

  • 1.5oz Bourbon (Whiskey - I used Noble Oak)

  • 1oz Drambuie Liqueur (Honey Flavoured Scotch)

  • 0.75oz Butterscotch Syrup

  • A Few Dashes of Angostura Bitters

  • Orange Peel (Garnish)

  • Luxardo Maraschino Cherries (Garnish)

What’s the difference between caramel syrup and butterscotch syrup? Butterscotch is a base of brown sugar instead of white sugar and has butter in it (hence BUTTER-scotch).

Add ice to a cocktail mixer glass along with all of your ingredients. Stir everything together. Grab a short glass and add a large ice cube to it. Strain the cocktail into the glass. Slice an orange peel and squeeze it over the cocktail to get some of the oils into the drink. Garnish with two luxardo maraschino cherries twisted between the orange peel.
