Old Sazerac

Imagine if an Old Fashioned met a Sazerac…well, today we are making an Old Sazerac! I am enthusiastic about all of my cocktail creations, but this one is hands down my favorite cocktail I ever made.

The star of this cocktail is the Toasted Almond Bitters! The nutty flavors really round everything out. This can be hard to find in stores but you can buy it online. Alternatively you could try Black Walnut Bitters or your generic Angostura Bitters.

Montenegro has a warm floral note and is a bit bitter - Kinda tastes like cold medicine on its own…I did the ultimate Amari taste test and you can watch my reactions to NINE different types here!

OLD SAZERAC

  • 2oz Rye Whiskey

  • 1oz Drambuie

  • 0.5oz Amaro (I used Montenegro)

  • 0.25oz Luxardo Apricot Liqueur

  • A few Dashes of Toasted Almond Bitters

  • ½ Bar Spoon of Luxardo Cherry Syrup (Optional)

Pour all of the ingredients into a glass cocktail mixer with ice and stir. Strain your cocktail into a coup glass and garnish with a Luxardo Cherry!
